Iraqi-Canadian rapper and academic who helped define Arab diaspora hip-hop from Montreal.

Yassin Alsalman — first as The Narcicyst, now Narcy — has spent two decades building the intellectual architecture of Arab diaspora hip-hop: rapping about identity, war, and media representation while teaching the culture as a course at Concordia University in Montreal.

His records and visual work opened doors for a generation of Arab rappers in North America, and his collaborations run from diaspora peers to major-label artists who sought him out precisely because he never softened the politics.
