Amman-based singer-songwriter who left a New York alt-pop career as King Deco to write in Arabic from home.

Dana Salah spent years in New York recording as King Deco, an alt-pop alias with playlist traction and no hometown in it. Then she moved back to Amman, retired the alias, and started writing under her own name — in Arabic, over production that pulls from Levantine sounds.

Singles like Weino made the return legible to a regional audience: an artist who had the Western pop machinery and chose the harder, more specific path instead. She has become one of the recognizable voices of Amman's new pop wave.
