El Waili

Kareem Gaber, who produces as El Waili, is an Egyptian producer born in Sohag and based in Cairo. Since launching the project in 2020, he has become one of the defining producers of Egypt's new electronic wave, folding psychedelic shaabi, house, techno and pop into tracks that feel both retro-futurist and unmistakably Cairene. His collaborations with vocalists like Donia Wael and Jordan's Zaid Khaled, his signing to the hip-hop label El Batron and a distribution deal with Saudi Arabia's Wall of Sound have made him a connective node between Egypt's underground and the region's new industry.
