Fairuz

Nouhad Wadie Haddad, known to the world simply as Fairuz, built a catalog across more than six decades that turned her into something closer to a national institution than a pop star, earning nicknames like “The Bird of the East.”

Her early work with composers Assi and Mansour Rahbani helped define modern Lebanese musical theater, blending classical Arabic vocal tradition with orchestral and folk arrangement. Even decades into her career, her songs remain a fixture of daily life across the region, played each morning on radio stations from Beirut to the diaspora.
