Beirut-born, Paris-based pianist and composer who reworks Lebanese song through electronics — son of Marcel Khalifé.
Born in Beirut in 1983 and raised in France, Bachar Mar-Khalifé grew up inside his father Marcel Khalifé's political-song tradition and then dismantled it lovingly on his own records — filtering Lebanese folk melody and Arabic poetry through piano, modular electronics, and club rhythm.
Albums like Ya Balad and On/Off established him as a singular figure in Paris's Arab music landscape: classical conservatory training, an inherited songbook, and a producer's instinct for making the old material sound dangerous again.
