Tamino grew up in Antwerp, the grandson of Muharram Fouad, one of Egyptian cinema’s most beloved leading men and singers. That inheritance surfaces less as imitation than as atmosphere, a certain melancholy grandeur that runs through even his most stripped down recordings.
