Lebanese indie rock band formed at the American University of Beirut in 2008, among the most influential and most censored Arab alternative acts.
Mashrou' Leila formed in 2008 as a music workshop at the American University of Beirut and became one of the most significant Arab alternative bands of its era. The group faced repeated censorship across the region, including the 2019 cancellation of its Byblos Festival concert after state interrogation of band members.
