Palestinian Chilean pop singer fusing Arabic melody with Latin rhythm, and the first artist to bring mainstream Arabic pop to Coachella’s main stages.
Elian Amer Marjieh grew up in Nazareth in a household where Fairuz and Julio Iglesias played on the same stereo, an inheritance she turned into a sound built for two audiences at once. She sings mostly in Arabic over instrumentation borrowed from reggaeton and Latin pop, a combination that should not work on paper and works constantly in practice.
Discovered at fifteen, she spent years building a catalog before her 2023 Coachella set made her the first artist to perform an Arabic language show on one of the festival’s main stages. A guest appearance alongside Coldplay at Glastonbury in 2024 followed, introducing her sound to audiences who had never heard Arabic pop outside of a search algorithm.
Her music treats the Arab and Latin diasporas as neighbors rather than strangers, tracing a family history that runs from Palestine through Chile without asking either half to translate itself for the other.
