Moroccan poet and founder of the influential literary journal Souffles, imprisoned for years over his writing before continuing his career in France.
Abdellatif Laâbi co-founded the journal Souffles in 1966, a landmark publication for postcolonial North African literature, and spent nearly a decade imprisoned in Morocco for his political writing before relocating to France, where he continued a prolific literary career and won the Prix Goncourt de la Poésie.
